The constant evolution of our society is bringing with it an ever increasing vulnerability of some of the foundational values of our nature.
“Congruent Circles” was born exactly as a tribute to one of the most important basic values: the equality.
“Congruence” corresponds to equal elements that can overlap perfectly. It is achieved when the similarity relationship between two elements is reduced to unity.
“Circularity” stands for unity, absence of differences and harmony. “Congruent Circles” aims to represent the concept of equality in the form that concerns the relationship of people to other people, as well as in the broader form that includes the sense of belonging, coexistence, freedom and respect of all living beings within their space. In “Congruent Circles” the concept of Equality is transmitted through an additional element: the collectivity.
Through this concept, the theme of the project is also implemented through the “suspension” of the traditional hierarchy between the rhythm section and the soloist. The compositions are developed so that the roles and responsibilities of the instruments are equally distributed. Elaborating ideas together and formulating actions to collaborate in determining the best musical “texture” for each song. As a result, the project includes compositions that sometimes contain similar and sometimes very different morphological elements. The aesthetic-stylistic results can be related to different musical languages, but at the same time connected inseparably by the “equality” of the musical idea.
Congruent Circles aims to decline the hierarchy between rhythm and soloists and celebrate the equality. The combination of musical elements used shows that complex harmonic contexts, melodies, free spaces and rhythmic variety are not mutually exclusive, but work together and enrich each other. The aim of the band is to combine the symbiosis of spontaneous flows and sense of structure.
Equal rights and responsibilities to achieve a collective identity through chorality between the three instruments.
